 Usyk was born in Simferopol, Crimean Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union on 17 January 1987, to parents originally from northern Ukraine. His parents names are still unrevealed.

His mother worked in construction and moved to Simferopol to study.

 His father was a military man. 

He worked as a security guard in Crimea, where he later met his wife.

 

Oleksandr Usyk is the first born of his family.

He has two siblings Viktorria Usyk and Wladimir Klitschko who is also a boxer.
